I started in the equine world at 13 years old, when my doctor offered me the opportunity to come to his place on the weekends. He had a quarter horse operation consisting of stallions and mares straight from the famed King Ranch in Texas. From there, I ventured out into game events, riding horses that no one else wanted (known runaways) and eventually made them into trusting worthy mounts. After several years of gaming, I entered the Arabian Horse breed by working with several Arabian ranches. It was there that I had the opportunity to work with several top trainers of the time, further advancing my skills in not only training, but breeding management. During this period, I was credited with having trained a top ten park horse, and several state champions in english and western pleasure.
I entered the Appaloosa world about 20 yrs ago when I purchased a filly from an Appaloosa ranch that I was working for at the time. Starting with this filly, and each year thereafter, I tried to improve the horses that I either bred or exhibited. Believing that a true horseman never stops learning, I seek out opinions and ideas of others. Last year I consulted with Steve DalParto, a World/National level trainer in California, to improve my conditioning skills. He stands Maids Dream along with several other stallions.
Horses that I have shown or bred, have won multiple halter futurities, top ten in the Nation, a Canadian National Championship, 2 top 3 placings at the Canadian Nationals (from only 2 shows), multiple world qualifiers, multiple ROM's and regional club award winners.
A few horses shown or bred by me are: Skips Vision: Canadian National Champion Broodmare, National Top Ten year end award winner in broodmares. Hesa Smooth Mover: Canadian National Champion Yearling Gelding , 3rd place. Make Me Pretty: Canadian National Champion Weanling Champion Gelding, 3rd place. Jetaleo: Top Ten in the Nation. Twiceagoer: Top Ten in the Nation Broodmares.
Some of my multiple futurity winners includes such horses as The Revenue Man, Debonairness, Jetaleo, Two Timin Woman, Recon To Impress, and Senators Dream. There are others that were single futurity winners.
For the past 18 yrs, I have been concentrating on the halter arena, judging open shows (5 yrs now) and giving a few clinics when time allows. I am very active with the appaloosa breed at large and in the regional local club.
